Almost nothing. Your site stays online throughout the process. Your email keeps working exactly as it does now. It's the same URL, the same design, and the same visible experience for your customers. The only difference is that your site is now running on our carefully managed, high-performance UK infrastructure.
What we do
- Audit the current site: We review your existing setup to plan the safest migration path.
- Copy data securely: We transfer files, databases, and emails during a quiet period to ensure data integrity.
- Test in a staging environment: We verify everything works perfectly on our infrastructure before anyone else sees it.
- Coordinate the DNS switch: We flip the switch to the new server in a coordinated window, usually in the evening.
- Monitor closely: We actively watch your site for the first 48 hours to ensure absolute stability.
- Handle teething issues: In the rare event of a quirk, we address it immediately.
What you'll be asked to do
- Confirm a good time for the DNS switchover (when your traffic is lowest).
- Provide credentials for your current host (or we can coordinate directly with your previous developer).
- Test the site briefly yourself after the switchover to ensure you're happy.
What it costs to move
The migration process itself is included when you take out a hosting subscription with us. Your ongoing hosting is simply billed monthly. We don't charge hidden setup fees for bringing you onboard properly.
